About this place
After a stroll along the canal, pausing for a chilled soft-serve or a simple sweet treat is an easy pleasure. Tucked inside the Edogawa City Shinkawa Sakura-kan community building, Oyasumidokoro serves as a quiet rest stop where walkers can drop in on a whim.
The main draw here is the variety of soft-serve ice cream. Alongside classic vanilla and matcha, visitors often opt for the Hokkaido azuki red bean flavor, prized for its aromatic, rounded sweetness. The cold counter also turns out sundaes layered with sauces like strawberry and mango, as well as seasonal fruit ice creams to suit whatever craving strikes.
For a slightly heartier bite, the menu includes Japanese sweets and light snacks like shiratama zenzai (sweet red bean soup with mochi dumplings), seaweed-wrapped isobeyaki grilled rice cakes, and roasted Beniharuka sweet potatoes served with tea. Regional specialties also make an appearance, including udon noodles and rice crackers made with Edogawa's signature komatsuna greens.
With benches and clean restrooms, the facility offers a hassle-free setting whether you are wandering alone or pausing with small children. Hot drinks like coffee and sweet amazake are on hand as well, making it a handy roost after taking in the riverside breeze.
